I just get back from lunch and I open Boston.com to check the day
(wet, death, and violence popped up, in that order.)
When what did I spy but the new logo for the 2012 London Olympics.

Oh My Gawd Ugly Logo, Batman.

Am I off base here, Illustrator? Meta?
I know they are trying to appeal to the youths, but youths have taste too.

Maybe it was just the offensive orange color that threw me, but... ick.

That gawd-awful logo was concieved, at a real agency, for the low, low price of 400,000 British pounds, (so about $798,275.79 USD.)

Obviously I'm working in the wrong country.

I pity the poor bastards who'll have to repurpose this monster for logo imprinting. In Photoshop the colors read as 100% Y; 100% Y+20% M; plus white knockouts. Boy that's ugly - but I guess you don't have to worry about trapping it...

Evidently it can be repourposed into whatever color you need it to be, if you sponsor the games or some such like that - They mention a bank already useing it in their corporate blue and green - but come on, I wouldn't want that on any of my materials...

hmm. . .methinks someone was trying to compete with the cutting edge euro-design. only they took craft paper and made badly formed numbers instead. . and some group full of sheep went along with it. .

Once I figured out that those were numbers and not just random squiggly bits, I got it, I think. They're going "urban". It's supposed to be "reminiscent of graffiti" I'd bet my left eye socket...
