It's that time of year...

...when the Christmas lights look a touch tawdry, and the slow, quiet creep of winter needs something to juxtapose it so that you can tolorate it, even appeciate it, for the next however many months.
It is the glorious season of the seed catalog. Their bright, cheerful, flower filled pages greeted me like so many wise Aunts and Uncles when I was home for Christmas.
Millers. Burpee. Johnny's. My new absolute favorite has to be RH Shumway's.

It was the design of the thing that caught me - it's a seed catalog stuck in a time warp. It is illustrated in woodcut style, and designed like a catalog you'd find on a kitchen table in the late early 1900's. I got a dose of flowery green things and a dose of design all in one sitting.
Heaven.

I went past an Agway today and saw thw signs that the seeds are in... I thought of you, (well, and baby chicks, because Agway always reminds me of peeping chicks in a wire pen under a heat lamp.)

Got Fedco the other day. Old woodcuts, rambling commentary...I love the thing. Are you still interested in hops?

*I'm* interested in hops, but I have to do more research. And I'm loathe to pile another thing on HorseChaser's plate.
The biggest issue is figuring out a trellising system that is easy to construct, maintain, and makes picking the hops as easy as possible, as for small scale, the harvest has to be done by hand, generally over the 2 week peek window.

So interested, but still tethered to my day job. *fist of frustration*
