Since I was relieved of dog-sitting duties, I kicked off my weekend by puttering over to Lowe's friday night and picking up some stuff. Small space heater so I don't fall victim to hypothermia in the shower, pipe foam insulation (which I then used to actually insulate pipes, wierd,) spackling to repair the wall in the bathroom, and a vaccum.
A real, honest to god, sucking vaccum. Oh joy. oh bliss - I sucked a small retriever out of the carpets and the corners, and life was good.
Yes, the vaccum makes me irrationally happy.
From there I finished watching The Kingdom. Decent movie, Totally worth it for the last 2 minutes. A real kick in the chest ending. Went from being "ehh, ok," to "woof," in those last two minutes.
Woke up Saturday, sarted 3 loads of laundry, vaccumed the bedroom (sucked out another small retriever,) and scrubbed the kitchen. Wicked productive, and that pleased me greatly.
Tossed Mr Dog in the car around 11 and wandered up to Great Brook Farm State Park. They have a really nicely laid out trail system that pulls in users of all stripes - Mountian Bikers, dog walkers, bird watchers, and horseback riders. We did between 3-4 miles before getting back to the car.
Stopped at Idlewylde on the way home for cheese, squash and a carveable pumpkin.
Got home, threw together a butternut soup (chicken stock, butternut squash cubes, some leftover pumpkin puree from the previous day's bread, heaped teaspoon of curry powder, dash of dried onion, dash of cinnimon, generous splash of cider.)
Carved Jack and step him out on the step. Realized I likely have to re-scrub the kitchen, as now it's covered in pumpkin bits. Meh.
Sunday I woke up, gloried in the fact that I didn't freeze my ass of in the shower, and took Mr. Dog out for him morning walk. It's been really beautiful out the past few mornings - A low fog rises off the pond, a beautiful swirling mass that genlty lifts toward the sun. The sun cuts distinct slices through the branches and remaining leaves... it's a good thing to experiance right before work. But I digress- it was sunday. We meandered back home, and I popped in a batch of pumpkin bread.
When the bread was out, I picked up Illustrator, and went to see what this CoHousing fuss was about. ;)
It's awesome, and I'm so very happy that the dream is starting to come together for so many of my friends. It was a wonderful day to get out and see it.
From there it was back to watch the end of the football game, with the Pats managing to hold on for the win. Was a good game. Yay, beer and burgers.
Thanks for leaving us a few, boys.
Spent the rest of the day puttering around in the company of Illustrator and Metabomber before going home to tuck my furry golden (exhausted) lump into bed.
Not a bad way to spend a weekend.
