Why I can't stand people

Yea! You go Suburbanites!
You get that Varmint who may have been participating in the natural order!
Grab your 2x4's! Break out the torches and pitchforks while you're at it!
(oh, wait, you wouldn't know a pitchfork if I stuck you with one.)
Beat the beast that may have dared make off with one of your neighbor's designer Mutts!

Oh?
It was carrying off one of it's own offspring that that was hit and killed by a vehicle?
Oh. Well.
Coyotes are still bad.

Shit like this drive me nuts.

*snarl* Hate people!

city folk are funny.

Like a coyote that wasn't rabid would actually be close enough to hit with a 2x4...

But Mr. Big Bad Evil Coyote might come back to eat their little inbred Fluffy-wuffy Lumpkins!
We have to protect Fwuffy-wuvems! Snooky-poopems can't exist in the great big bad world, don't you know...

And if someone was stupid enough to leave their precious baby puppy outside unattended, Mr Coyote deserved dinner... but that wasn't the case at all...

nature isn't snuggly most of the time.

Those pure-(in)bred things are expensive, man! I'd much rather get bitten by a coyote than let a dog that's hardly big enough to eat a chewbone become lunch for something as filthy and dispicable as a coyote. Forget about all the rats they eat, get them out of the city!

Snacks on the run

Any animal that is incapable of defending itself should be kept inside. If someone is stupid enough to leave their precious beast outside, and it gets attacked, scratched, gnawed on by the local natural fauna, too bad. Coyotes are no-where near as bad as raccoons. Coyotes seem to have gotten the memo that they are unwelcome to most people and therefore generally avoid folks. Raccoons on the other hand...

And truly, if you have an animal that is defeseless, keep it out of harm's way. Did you declaw kitty? Don't let it out. Did you buy a dog that fits in a pint glass. You might want to keep it inside. Never ceases to amaze how folks want to tamper with animals and are then surprised that they take the time and energy to feed some epileptic, special diet needing, weak bladdered furball.

People suck in many ways. Coyotes, not so bad. It's not that I can't stand people (hmm....don't hold me to that) I just can't stand city people. The overwhelming need to trample the natural world and wonder when the natural world pushes back is a constant source of bemusement for me.

Yeah, yeah, off on a tangent sort of. But people still suck.

I think some of the people who read this journal may have been privy to the Cat-Herder and I ranting about people who should just go back to their controlled urban environment and out of our countryside, dammit. (Needless to say, the Cat-Herder is more polite than I. He generally is.)

Coyotes are cool. Most people are stupid. And as several folks have said, if people kept their domestic animals INSIDE where domesticated things belong, they would be safe, not only from the minor threat of coyotes, but the far more pervasive threat of cars.

As for the "attacks on children," healthy coyotes do not attack humans. Period. The rare attacks that do happen are sick animals. (So sayeth our friendly neighborhood animal cop, who has reason to know better than the Boston Globe.) And even so, if someone had had the bloody sense to teach their kids to keep away from strange animals...
