(no subject)

So, a few months ago, I had my *front* brakes done. I thought I had had all 4 corners done.
It was not so, and the Howling I was hearing was the rear brakes shitting the bed. Shouldn't bee too bad though - mechanic thinks only about $250.

Then, the long, painful march to new tires for the beast. Does anyone know if I order tires online, if I can get someone local to put them on? It seems weird to ask tire people to put tires on my car that I didn't buy from them.

Punkin time

A few people have asked, so here it is:

Pumpkin Bread

2 2/3 cup white sugar
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup water
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups pumpkin (or 1 regular sized can of Libby's works fine)

3 1/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon

2/3 cup chopped nuts (can be omitted)
2/3 cup raisins (can be omitted)

(I also toss in a dash of ginger and nutmeg)

Grease three 4"x 8" x 2" bread pans.
Cream shortening and sugar - add eggs, pumpkin and water.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices and then add to pumpkin mixture.
Stir in nuts and raisins (or dates.)
Bake at 350* for 1 hour or until done.
Freezes well.
