I gave a short speech today in front of my department (~150 people). It was for an award I had nominated one of my colleagues for.
I had less than 24 hours to prep, but I only stumbled two words, remembered to pause, breathe, and looked up occasionally.
The text is behind the cut - but what made it for me was on my way back to my seat, one of the Four Letter Company's lead copy writers gave me a whispered "You did a really good job!"
Oh, and then I got an award too. Go, go Four Letter Team Spirit! or something.
To quote my boss, who gave the nomination speech - "Thanks for not leaving."
Tells you something.

( my nomination award for the Terminally Perky Colleague )
