The power of kindness
May. 22nd, 2008 11:07 amWhen I started working here at the Four Letter Company, I was basically thrown into the deep end of the pool and told to swim. I was given a sheet of paper with some names/passwords on it, and a small stack of business cards of the vendors I was approved to use.
On the top of the stack was a business card for a place called Seaport Graphics (www.seaportgraphics.com). A few days into the job, I gave them a call as an introduction, and as a part of figuring out just what the hell I was doing here. I struck up a conversation with my CSR, and we've been close professional friends ever since. I talk to her more than almost any other person these days.
These people are awesome. I've only ever had maybe 2 screwups with them in the 1.5 years I've been working closely with them. Both were my fault. They turn projects around faster than they should be able to, and they've never really complained. I know I can trust them with my graphics, they know they cant trust us to pay them, and we both understand what each other need for timelines.

Today I get a call from Security. I have a package at the front desk. This is where anything goes the get delivered by courier. Like last minute projects that I need to see proofs of.
My heart leaps. I've forgotten something. There's a shipment I've missed. What the hell is at the front desk? What Project is it?! What Ball Has Fallen Out of the AIR?!?!
Stomach lurching, I trot down the hall, down the stairs, and around the corner. And there, smiling security guy hands me a lovely vase of roses and daisies and lilacs.
Stunned, the little voice in my head reminds me, "Doofus, it's your birthday!"
Hah!
Discombobulated, I return to my desk, figuring it was from any one of the Chicas, or Mom, or HorseChaser.
I get upstairs, pry open the card to discover it's from my CSRs at Seaport!
Doofuses. :)
I call and tell them as such, and thank them profusely.
So really, for all your digital, photographic, large format printing or display needs, give Beth T. a call at Seaport.
