Puruvian Lung Frogs upgraded
Dec. 23rd, 2006 08:12 pmWoke up this morning on day 5, Puruvian Lung Frog Death Watch, and discovered no improvement.
Decided, what the heck, let's excercise this new-fangled "health insurance" I've heard so much about and hit a Dr.
2 days before Christmas.
On a weekend.
Yea.
Right.
I called around, must have called 10 diferent Dr. offices, (all spat out by my insurance website,) and every single one is closed until tuesday, naturally. People don't get sick near major holidays, you know.
So Citgo offered to take me to a walk-in.
The only one I can find within resonable distance is only open Mon-Fri, we find out. (Thankfully, because I called first.)
Finally, having hit the end of my resources, I call my mother.
Naturally, there's an urgent care clinic open ajacent to the emergency room, at BMC (Berkshire Medical Center.)
Three and a half hours later, I arrive home, hacking up things all all different colors. Mom tosses me in the car, a la a 10 year old, and hauls me to the ER. (Where said clinic is located.)
15 minutes of waiting with a mask on (Unclean! Unclean!) and the nice man take my temp, presses on my noggin, and hands me a script for some antibiotics for my apparent sinus infection.
Most painless ER visit ever. Well, aside from the bands wrapping themselves around the tops of my lungs and stuff.
So the Puruvian Lung Frogs are actually mutated Venisualian Sinus Frogs in disguise.
It's a good thing I had intended to come home for christmas, but really, driving to the other end of the state just to be seen by a doc, in a state full of schools that turn out docs, was a little frustrating.
I have to wonder where/if there are services like this in hospitals closer to the greater boston area that I just couldn't find in my many searches.
Anyone know of any, and if so, can you give me any reviews?
Going to rest my very tired self now,
- K.
