Dec. 3rd, 2012 09:22 amThis weekend was the first in a very long time where I had nothing I was obligated to do.
So I did lots of things. The dishes. Vacuumed. Tidied my bedroom. Got Edna the Sewing Machine up and running, and sewing (badly, but that's my ineptness, not hers). Went to church. Sat in Starbucks and watched people go by. Gave $ to homeless people. Listened. Got 98% of my Christmas shopping done (98% via online.) Was crafty. Was still. Missed Bubba quite a bit. I'd been keeping myself busy since his death; this was the fist weekend I'd been home since, with nothing to do but absorb his gone-ness in the silence and the snow. He used to love the snow, dragging in snowballs clumped in the feathers between his toes to melt into puddles on the floor, cold wet landmines for anyone in socks.
There were things I should have done. Deconstruct his ramp off the back porch. Freelance. Laundry. But instead, last night I sat down with a beer and watched an hour of Hee Haw. Then I read a chapter of the WWI book I'm allllmost done with and went to bed.
For all this effort to be more relaxed, more in tune with myself, I woke up with a headache this morning.
This weekend - Spear tourney.
