Mildy annoyed
Jun. 14th, 2010 04:11 pmHi there,
It's not often that I'm moved to write about the quality of a product I order, but in this case, I felt compelled.
I'd been borrowing one of your Brig. Gorgets at my local fighter practice for the last few months. I knew it to be yours because of the rosette washers used. It worked with my helmet much better than other styles, and the quality and weight were such that I felt sufficiently protected. I decided that I'm going to stick with heavy list for a while, and so I should start gathering pieces of my own. I ordered your gorget, (which was back ordered, and that's ok,) I was pleasantly surprised that it was shipped priority. (kudos!)
When it came in, however, I was somewhat disappointed. Unlike most casual customers, I have one of your older style gorgets to compare it to - with the new one, the leather was noticeably lighter, the buckle is smaller, part of the stitching to attach the "collar" part to "drape" part was missed (about 1/2", but I can see with a few good hits it's going to start opening up), and the distinctive rosette washer that led me back to you in the first place has been replaced with a scalloped piece of brass. Honestly, if I hadn't ordered it directly from you, I would have almost thought it was a fairly good imitation.
I'm sure it will work, (well, I need it to work one way or the other, I need to get the old one back into newbie circulation.) I understand that the cost of materials goes up, but all these little things are a mark of quality, which is why I purchased from you from the start.
Perhaps something to keep in mind for the future,
- K.
