flashbacks
May. 6th, 2009 04:05 pmOnce upon a time, quite a while ago now, while working a forge at Pennsic, we were approached by the head muckity-muck Herald of Trimaris and asked to make less noise, as we were disturbing court.
"Can you hammer more quietly?" I believe was the request.
We tried, but really, there's not much that can make a coal forge "quiet" short of shutting it down, and we literally had too many irons in the fire to do that.
We all chuckled quietly about how everyone loves the "singing hammers" until it isn't fun anymore.
Just today, I was tasked with assembling some high muckity-muck awards. This requires I find something resembling a hammer and drive 4 little tacks into the frames 20+ awards. They are "pre-drilled" ie, they have little shallow guide holes. These awards need to be shipped out tomorrow to hit their non-negotiable drop date.
I was just asked to hammer more quietly, as I was disturbing a con-call.
I could do nothing but giggle (a little madly) to myself, and wonder where the Baron Johan is today... I forget the name of the other guy...
