I think there should be a new division: Co-Ed Naked Designing. It's bloody hot out, I'm considering it cooler in here and it still 84*... And allergies have been playing havok on me all day... stupid allergies... stupid orks... stupid ring...
So, as promised, a short rant on American Fairy Tales, and how they suck. It's short and not fully developed as I'm tired. You'e not even going to get it spell checked, as my computer keeps screwing that page up.
Now don't get me wrong, I like a good fairy tale. The gory-er the better, I say, which is why I prefer the old European tales. Americans have a way of making things that weren't ment to be fluffy, fluffy.
I was talking about a completely unrelated subject to LongIslandVet, and she and I came to agree that Americans like spirit. We've never quite gotten past that whole conquering the West thing. If it can have spirit, (the wild, unbroken type,) the more the better.
And so we see in many fairy tales the underdog come out the winner, but not for reasons you'd think. Many old tales were constructed such that children learned that if they misbehaved, they got eaten or something. They've gotten twisted along they way such that there's all this rescueing now, and ass kicking where ass kicking doesn't belong.
I'm a big fan of the "you fuck up, you get eaten by a wierd green lady in the woods" tales. Much more impressive. Actually gives you a clue at an early age that not everyone will run to your rescue, and if you screwed up, you have to face the consequences. (Very much unlike today's society, where you can fuck up all you want, and as long as you have enough money and clout, you're golden.(But this has been this way for quite some time, just more limited to the top of the class pyramid.))
I blame Disney for takeing a lot of the fear out of fables.
