Wednesday would have been my grandmother's 94th birthday.

I was sitting at work, listening to an interview on NPR of a woman who's written a book about how the wedding industry has gone insane, and the traditional organ-heavy Wedding March geared up as their bumper music.



It hit me that my grandmother will never see my wedding.
And it's just made me horribly sad.

That is sad indeed, and from the other comments here it seems that your thoughts have inspired others to remember those that have gone beyond our reach. Myself included. It has been some time since I thought of my grandparents in terms of anything other then "family medical history". And how three of our four grandparents were not able to see my brother or myself become men. And the fourth, wasn't able to see us as men due to the choices he made later in his life.


It's the rain, when it stays for days it makes one think...
