To Catch a Rat

The sounds of rat's claws on the tile in my head.
Cold, smooth, swept, they tak tak tak around and around.
Little lithe rat tails snapping about as little sharp rat claws skitter over the tile.
tak tak tak tak tak
tak tak tak
Snap
The trap goes off, and one rat explodes in a squeal of pain behind my right eye.
Writheing and twisting, the claws drive deep, bringing new pain. Escaping the springbar, rat flies back into the shadow to nurse it's pains.
